We took a shot at documenting Boston’s local food scene and came up with this website as a resource. We hope you find it useful in exploring and learning about Boston’s food network, and we’d love to hear your thoughts on how to improve it. Check out our map and the categorized lists through the boxes below to begin exploring.
Local food systems are complicated networks. There are a number of people doing great work to support the Boston food system. We want to show off all of their efforts in one place and tie the Boston food system together with your help.
What constitutes “local?” Help us decide! If you consider an organization tied closely to the Greater Boston food system, than it should be included! We've rounded up our own list, but please suggest companies to add, make connections, and give feedback on how we can make this a better resource for the Boston community.
We chose to sort this information into categories by role: producers, distributors, prepared food, food rescue, and facilitators.
Help Us Help You!
We built this resource because we want to see the Greater Boston local food network grow, and we see its potential as one of the strongest local food systems in the world (we’ll start with just the best in the country). If you do too, help us make this resource the best it can be:
- Would you like to see things presented differently? - Are we missing your favorite local food business or organization? - Do you know of someone who would be interested in helping us take this project to the next level?
